Lori Hylton serves as our Director of Strategic Programming and brings a unique blend of strategic insight, community engagement, and financial wellness expertise to Freedmen Heirs Foundation. She previously served as a Fellow at the Croatan Institute, where she worked with underserved farmers to improve their financial resilience. She is also a certified financial health coach.
Lori’s background includes roles as Administrative Coordinator for the Synod of the Northeast PC (USA), providing resourcing for the network of 19 presbyteries and over 1100 worshiping communities. In 2020, she launched Financial Health in the Pews, a bold pilot program bridging faith and financial literacy. Lori has also served as Program Officer with the Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC), where she helped implement policy agendas for affordable housing and economic development.
She holds a BA in Political Science and Africana Studies from Wellesley College and has completed coursework for her MA in Urban Affairs from Hunter College. Lori’s commitment to capacity-building and inclusive economic development aligns beautifully with our mission at FHF.
